News24x7 β€” real news, all sources, 24/7

About News24x7

News24x7 is a South African news discovery service. We watch the public feeds of more than a hundred newsrooms β€” in South Africa, across Africa and around the world β€” and bring their headlines together on one page that refreshes every ten minutes.

What we actually publish

For every story we show four things: the headline, a short extract of no more than 300 characters, a small thumbnail, and the name of the newsroom that reported it. Clicking any of them takes you straight to that newsroom's own page. We do not copy full articles and we do not rewrite them.

Thumbnails are resized previews of the picture the publisher themselves attached to the story β€” either in their feed or in the og:image tag their article page publishes for exactly this purpose. We host the small copy ourselves rather than hot-linking, so we are not spending a publisher's bandwidth on our page views, and every one is credited.

Alongside the aggregated headlines we publish our own material β€” topic guides, explainers and short briefs written by the News24x7 desk. Those pages carry a "News24x7 original" label so you always know which is which.

How we choose sources

A source qualifies if it publishes a public feed, has an identifiable newsroom, and covers subjects our readers ask for. We group them into three regions and fourteen sections. We do not rank sources by political alignment, and where a publisher is state-owned or state-funded we say so on its source page.

How the site stays current

An automated job runs every ten minutes. It checks each newsroom's feed, picks up anything published since the last check, removes stories that duplicate what another newsroom has already filed, sorts each item into a section, and puts it live. Nothing waits for a human.

Corrections

We do not write the aggregated stories, so factual corrections belong with the original publisher. If a headline or extract on this site is displayed wrongly β€” mis-sorted, out of date, attributed to the wrong newsroom β€” tell us on the [contact page](/contact) and we will fix it.
