Why does clicking a headline take me to another website?
Because the story belongs to the newsroom that wrote it. News24x7 is a discovery service: we show you
what is being reported across more than a hundred newsrooms, and send you to the original to read it.
We do not copy full articles onto this site, and we never will.
Why do you only show a short extract?
Two reasons. Legally, reproducing substantial parts of someone else's article is not something a
commercial aggregator can do under fair dealing. Practically, an extract is enough to tell you whether
a story is worth your click. Our extracts are capped at 300 characters, and that cap is enforced when
the story is collected rather than when it is displayed, so a longer version is never stored anywhere.
How often is the site updated?
Every ten minutes, around the clock. An automated job checks each newsroom's feed, picks up anything
published since the last check, and puts it live. The "last update" time in the footer tells you when
that last ran.
Why is this story in the wrong section?
Stories are sorted by software using keyword rules, not by an editor. It gets it right most of the time
and occasionally puts something in the wrong place. Email the page address to
info@news24x7.co.za and we will move it — and adjust the rule so it does not happen again.
Where do the pictures come from?
From the publisher. Where their feed includes a photograph, or their article page publishes one for
previews, we fetch it once, resize it to a small thumbnail and serve that copy from our own server. We
do not hot-link, so no reader traffic is charged to a publisher's bandwidth, and we keep no
full-resolution copy. Every thumbnail is credited.
Some stories have no picture. Why?
Roughly a third to a half of news feeds carry no image at all. Where we cannot find one, the card shows
a coloured placeholder with the section icon rather than leaving a gap.
Is the same story appearing twice?
It should not. We reject a story if its link has been seen before, if a near-identical headline appeared
in the last three days, or if its wording closely matches something already published in the same
section. Different newsrooms covering the same event with genuinely different headlines will both
appear — that is deliberate, so you can compare coverage.
I am a publisher. How do I get my content removed?
Email info@news24x7.co.za with Publisher in the subject line. You can ask for headline-only (no
extract), no thumbnails, removal of one item, or full removal of your feed. We action requests within
48 hours and do not require a formal legal notice. Full details on the

How do I get my publication added?
Email us the address of your public feed. We look for an identifiable editorial operation and subject
matter our readers want. There is no charge, and we do not accept payment for inclusion.
Do you write any of your own material?
Yes. Anything carrying a green Original label and a named byline is written by us — explainers, topic
guides and briefs. Everything else is a headline from another newsroom. See our

Do you use AI to write articles?
No. Selection, sorting and layout are automated; original writing is done by a person. We do not
publish machine-written text under a human byline. Our [editorial policy](/editorial-policy) sets this

Is News24x7 free?
Yes, and it will stay free. The site is funded by advertising.
Can I get the headlines as a feed?
Yes. There is a site-wide feed at [/feed.xml](/feed.xml) and one per section, for example
[/feed/politics.xml](/feed/politics.xml).
