Editorial Policy & Standards
Last updated: 11 September 2026
This page sets out how News24x7 works, who is accountable, and what you can hold us to.
Who is responsible
News24x7 is edited by the [News24x7 Desk](/author/news24x7-desk), which selects the newsrooms we
aggregate, writes the site's original explainers and topic guides, and answers publisher and reader
correspondence. Our full list of contributors is on the [team page](/authors).
Two kinds of content, always distinguishable
Aggregated headlines are written by other newsrooms. We show the headline, an extract of no more
than 300 characters, a thumbnail and the publisher's name, and every one links to the publisher's own
page. We do not edit, rewrite or reinterpret them. The publisher's name appears on every single item.
News24x7 originals are written by us and carry a green Original label, a named byline linked to
that writer's profile, and a publication date. Where a piece has been substantially revised, an
updated date appears alongside it.
If you cannot tell which of the two you are reading, that is a failure on our part β tell us.
How we choose sources
A newsroom qualifies if it publishes a public feed, has an identifiable editorial operation, and covers
subjects our readers look for. We do not select or exclude sources on the basis of their political
alignment. Where a publisher is state-owned or state-funded, we say so on its source page. We do not
accept payment for inclusion, placement or prominence β not from publishers, not from anyone.
Accuracy and corrections
We do not verify the aggregated stories; the publisher is responsible for those, and a correction to
one belongs with them. What we are responsible for is displaying them correctly β right headline, right
publisher, right section, working link.
For our own original material we correct errors promptly and visibly. A correction to a factual error
is noted at the foot of the piece with the date and what changed; we do not quietly edit and move on.
Report anything wrong to info@news24x7.co.za and we will respond within two working days.
Use of automation
We are direct about this because readers deserve to know. **Selection, classification and layout are
automated.** Software fetches feeds every ten minutes, sorts stories into sections using keyword rules,
removes duplicates and publishes them without a human in the loop. That automation occasionally puts a
story in the wrong section, and we fix those when we spot them or when you tell us.
Original editorial is written by a person. We do not auto-generate articles, we do not spin or
rewrite other newsrooms' copy into "our own" version, and we do not publish machine-written text under
a human byline.
Independence
No advertiser, political party, government body or commercial partner has any influence over which
newsrooms we aggregate, how stories are ranked, or what our original pieces say. Advertising is served
programmatically through Google AdSense and we have no relationship with the advertisers who appear.
Privacy and reader data
We do not require registration and collect no personal information beyond standard server logs. See the
[privacy policy](/privacy) for detail, including the advertising cookies Google sets.
Publisher relations
Any publisher may ask us to reduce their listing to headline-only, remove their thumbnails, or remove
their feed entirely. We action those requests within 48 hours, without argument and without requiring a
formal legal notice. See [copyright and takedown](/copyright).
